As a result of Mongolian conquests of Central Asia and Iran one of the first-rate nation of that time – empire of Khorezmshahs was destructed. The last sovereign of the empire, a talented military leader Jalal ad-Din Mankburni could several times defeat the conquerors, but in the decisive battle at the river Indus his forces were defeated by Chingiz-khan. After that Jalal ad-Din founded a state in the Western Iran, in the Middle East and in the Cauca-sus. During six years from 1225 to Horezm’s death in 1231 his empire stopped movement of the Mongolian forces to the West. The author has compiled a detailed biography of Jalal ad-Din. There are many researches of Mongolian expansion and personality of Chingiz-khan, however their well-known enemy hasn’t got such a close attention. This monograph appeals to the historical justice and it is the first Russian research of the last Khorezmshah’s life. The author has analysed the history of Jalal ad-Din Mankburni Empire based of information from several groups of sources, e.g. Arab-Persian, Armenian and Georgian, so this gives a special importance to this monograph. In conclusion, the author has summed up the research of activity and personality of Jalal ad-Din Mankburni. It’s vital to note a try to construct unprejudiced portrait of this historical person in the context of the first Russian scientific monograph, which is dedicated to the last Khorezmshah. The author hopes that this research will attract the interest of the scientific community to the problem of this monograph in Russia and abroad.
