This Russian edition was published by the Institute of Oriental Studies Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow in 2020 by arrangement with Dongguk University Press, Seoul.
This publication represents the first experience of the commented translation into Russian of the text of an outstanding monument of Korean literature — the Korean Buddhist Canon "Seokbo sangjeol" [釋 譜 詳 節] - Buddha's life history, accompanied by his sermons collected and compiled by King Sejo and translated from Chinese sources. This is the first known translation of Buddhist sutras from Chinese into Korean, published in 1447. The book contains the most important Mahayana sutras, including the most revered in East Asian Buddhism (Lotus Sutra, Sutra of Basic Vows of the Bodhisattva Kshitigarbha and Amitabha Sutra).
The book is intended for both domestic and foreign researchers of Buddhism, orientalists, cultural studies, and a wide range of readers interested in the history and culture of the East.
