The monograph analyses Russian-Persian relations throughout almost the entire 18th century, and two Russian military campaigns in the North-Western regions of Persia: the Caspian campaign of Peter the Great (1722-1723) and the 1796 campaign led bу Valerian Zubov. The analysis is based on the numerous works of historians and travelers of the 17th-21st centuries, as well as on а wide range of documents from the Russian archives related to the period under consideration. The results of the research are delivered in а lively and accessible language, and would bе of interest not only to Iranian and Russian scholars, orientalists, history and oriental studies students, but also to а wide range of interested readers.
