The authors of this collection of articles pay the main attention to the belt of Islamic states situated along the Southern borders of the Caucasus and Central Asia. It includes: Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, as well as Kurdish regions of Iraq and Syria. The articles are written mainly by the participants of the representative Scientific conference held in the Institute of Oriental Studies (RAS) in November 2010.
