This book consists of articles that grew out of reports given at the first conference dedicated to the anniversary of a very important event in Russian history – the 125th anniversary of the signing of the Russian-Chinese Alliance Treaty of 1896. The conference was attended by prominent experts in Russian-Chinese and Russian-Korean relations on this period in the history of the Russian state, public figures, including Prince N. D. Lobanov-Rostovsky, a descendant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire, who was one of the authors of this treaty. The articles touch upon a wide range of issues related to the history of the signing of the Russian-Chinese Alliance Treaty of 1896, its significance for relations between Russia and China, taking into account the historical background, the current state and prospects of Russian-Chinese relations, a comparison of the views of the scientific community of Russia and China on the historical events of the late 19th - early 20th centuries in Northeast Asia. Modern relations between Russia and China are considered; trade and economic relations between China and Russia, Japan, Mongolia.
The book is intended for both domestic and foreign researchers of traditional and modern China, as well as a wide range of readers interested in the geography, history and culture of the East.
