The collection of articles which has an interdisciplinary character analyses the Eastern countries problems in globalization context. In particular, cause and effect relationship between “Arab spring” events and theory of “chaos control” have been traced. New trends have been revealed in socio-economic development of Eastern states. Among them: the increased role of TNC and TNB in these countries, activation of Chinese presence in Africa, expansion of Islamic banks activities. Some authors concentrated their attention on the growing influence of global cities, the research of population growth perspectives in China and India, as well as demographic problems of the Old World countries. The book also considers the troubled issues of ethnic and religions communities coexistence in the Middle East and Russia. Several articles are devoted to the analysis of the problems, concerning multicultural phenomenon and diasporas (including immigrant community from Islamic states in Italy); exposure of migration processes specificity from Asia to the USA. Beyond that, religious situation in Bashkortostan, the activities of lately established Islamic educational institutions in Tatarstan are investigated. This work is dedicated to the memory of a distinguished orientalist, expert in economic history A.M. Petrov (1946 – 2010).
