The book contains the texts in Mongolian and Tibetan, relating to the applied linguistics tradition of the Northern Mongols in late 16th – early 20th cent., as well as manuscripts and xylographic books, showing the functioning in Mongolia of various kinds of writing. Among them there are Mongolian alphabets, Mongolian alphabets on Tibetan, and Tibetan alphabets for the Mongols in Mongolian and Tibetan, works about systems of transliteration and transcription of foreign texts, Mongolian texts written by Tibetan script, as well as Mongolian texts written by soyombo alphabet and horizontal square script. The book is published in Russian and Mongolian. It is dedicated to the memory of distinguished researcher of Mongolian writing tradition Academician Tsendün Damdinsüren.
