Iran, as a state, experienced a number of transformations in its development during a period of modern history: from semi-colonial and backward feudal-monarchical state to modern power with advanced political, economic, and social structure. Teheran shows this process more vividly and in diversified manner. The present book describes Teheran during the last years of Shah Mohammed Reza Pehlevi regime in the middle of the 70s of 20th century. In spite of the book title it does not touch upon such problems as political, religious and military aspects because all of them need special research. That is why the presented work must be considered more likely as “Teheran – Civil Life on the Eve”. The years under consideration were the period when social development of Iran was implemented under the slogans of greatness of Iran monarchism and tight cooperation with the West. Islamic revolution of 1979 destroyed such contradictory strategy of national modernization. The country chose another path which was close to moral state of the Iranians and was based on national sovereignty guided by Islamic Shia leadership.
