Volume 2 is focused on the period which in European history is called the Middle Ages. The author shows the transformation of the West from the an-cient Christian tradition through barbarism to defeudalization in the direction of liberal democracy. The author also examines the history of the East, in-cluding Africa and pre-Columbian America, countries between East and West, among them Byzantium and Ancient Rus, the role of nomads in the world history. Historiosophical theoretical chapters deal with the problem of dynamics of historical progress. In these chapters the author tells about the laws of evolution, the priority of reason over productive forces, the Islamiza-tion of Eastern peoples, about the Crusades and the Inquisition, and complex of “us” and “them”. The book is meant for undergraduate and graduate students of the Departments of History, Humanities and Social Studies of the Universities, lecturers, as well as for all readership interested in history.
