Presumable destabilization in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of International troops threatens the security in Central Asia. It can also create a number of problems connected with interrelations between the region states and Russia within the framework of existing military-political and integration institutions of CIS. Most probably, the USA will try to use in future their military bases for monitoring the situation in the region as well as their strategic rivals – Russia and China. It is expected that the USA will continue the efforts to limit Russia’s participation in power, transport, military-political projects in Afghanistan and Central Asia. In case of destabilization in Afghanistan Central Asian states will not be able to resist by themselves new threats and challenges. Russia may also face serious challenges to its security. It will demand from Russia to develop special “post Afghanistan strategy” and realize it together with SCTO and SCO.
