The relationships between the Buddhist Sangha and the state in the Southern, Central Asian and Far Eastern regions many times were the object of studies of Buddologists. In this book the main field of study are the relationships between Sangha and the state in Japan during VI-IX cc. During the investigation the author made a proposal that from the first period this relationships were formed as a ritual practice. As a consequence, in the eyes of society the representatives of Buddhist clergy looked mostly as the sacral mediators between people and Buddhas, with sacred priest functions. Japanese emperor in the eyes of Sangha was the embodiment of the Buddhist king - cakravartin who created the space of Buddhist world.
