The monograph deals with the phenomenon of the “Arab Spring”, which entailed significant social and political changes in a number of Arab countries and largely affected the global situation in the world. For the study, the author chose countries, in which various scenarios of the “Arab Spring” were demonstrated most clearly. A special chapter is devoted to the examination of the activities of “Islamic State” (IS) banned on the territory of the Russian Federation. The author considers IS as a hotbed of radical Islamism, formed largely due to the policies of Western countries and the monarchies of Persian Gulf. The focus of the study is the analysis of socio-economic, political and religious situation in each country, as well as the impact of internal and external factors. The researcher tries to give an objective picture of the events, based on documentary sources and the personal impressions of his sty in Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, and Syria in 2011 – 2016. The book is addressed to Arabists, namely, historians, political analysts, experts on socio-political development of the Middle East, as well as to everybody who is interested in the current situation in the Arab East.
