India-Tibet: Text and Around the Text. Roerich Readings 2002 (anniversary) at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Editor: Viktoriya Vertogradova
Москва, 2004, 271 p.
This collection is the result of the Roerich Readings, held at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences from November 28-30, 2002, dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the eminent Tibetologist, Indologist, and Central Asian specialist Yuri Roerich.
The articles collected here, covering a geographical area from India to Tibet during the ancient and medieval periods, represent original, creative research (using texts in 10 ancient languages) in areas of cultural history, philology, religion, and art that are underdeveloped or completely unrepresented in Russian Oriental studies. The theme of "text and around text" stated in the title is not a formal heading, but rather establishes a common research focus for all the works, approaching a general theory of cultural text and giving the collection a coherent tone.
