Underwater archaeology is a relatively new trend of history, which develops thanks to the enthusiasts in researches, technological progress in the World Ocean studies and close cooperation with other humanitarian and natural sciences. In the Bay of Sudak underwater archaeological expedition carries out annual excavations. Underwater archaeologists examine new areas of the Crimean shelf every year. This makes it possible to identify unknown objects, and thereby to full up the archaeological map of the region. Thanks to the work of archaeologists and expedition volunteers the collections of “The Sudak Fortress Museum Preserve” are replenished. Photos from the daily work of the expedition are represented on pp. 64 – 73. The field season 2014 results of underwater archaeological researches in South-Eastern Crimea are published in the book. The publication is intended for archaeologists, historians, local historians, students and all interested in history of Crimea.
