The present dictionary is based on many years of lexicographic work conducted by Yaroslav Gutgarts, research fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, of which a prominent role included his numerous expeditions to Eritrea and Tigray (Ethiopia), including those organized by the Institute.
