The volume issue presents papers investigating and making comparative analyses of
general or synchronized trends in the social development of the Middle East countries,
especially Turkey, associated both with the strengthening of authoritarian tendencies and
the increasing role of the Islamic factor in their political life. The authors researched the
role of the growing Islamic trend in the domestic and foreign policy of the Republic of
Turkey. Possible changes in the economic policy of Turkey, due to the upcoming transition
of the country to the presidential form of government, are considered as well. The book
is of interest to orientalists, specialists in international relations, students of higher
educational institutions of the corresponding profile, as well as for all those interested in
the transformation of modern political systems in the Middle East in a rapidly changing
internal and foreign policy situation in the countries of the region.
