The book examines the twenty years history of Kyrgyzstan after the collapse of the Soviet Union. At the same time, this publication is not intended to be exhaustive chronological overview of all the events happened during this period. The structure of the book is more of a sketch character and it is built on the problem-thematic principle. The work focuses on the most important, significant events, processes and trends. Particular attention is paid to the characteristics of the socio-economic development of the republic, two state coups of 2005 and 2010, the state of inter-ethnic sphere, analysis of key events of foreign policy and external influence on the situation in Kyrgyzstan, the regional and clan factors and ties of the policy with the criminal area, as well as to the conceptual foundations of modern small states consistency. At the same time, many of the findings and the matrix under consideration on the example of Kyrgyzstan scenarios are relevant and can be projected on to other post-Soviet republics. The book is intended for historians, political scientists, and anyone interested in the history of the former Soviet Union.
