The monograph deals with little-known aspects of the history of Russian-Japanese relations beginning from the mid. of 18 cent. up to the 50s of 20 cent. The author also touches upon the events of 17 – beg. 18 cent., when Russia and Japan had no diplomatic relations. Modern problems are given attention too. The book consists of 8 Chapters and Supplement including 13 documents about Soviet-Japanese war in August 1945. The research embraces such themes as Japanese interference in Russian problems in 1918 – 1927; the USSR and Japan: 20 years on the brink of war (1925 – 1945); Japanese Intelligence service and Soviet spy mania in 1937 – 1938; five-day blitz of Red Army in Manchuria in August 1945; Japanese prisoners of war in the USSR, et al. The author plans to publish this monograph in Russian.
