As a result of Mongolian conquests of Central Asia and Iran one of the first-rate nation of that time – empire of Khorezmshahs was destructed. The last sovereign of the empire, a talented military leader Jalal ad-Din Mankburni could several times defeat the conquerors, but in the decisive battle at the river Indus his forces were defeated by Chingiz-khan. After that Jalal ad-Din founded a state in the Western Iran, in the Middle East and in the Cauca-sus. During six years from 1225 to Horezm’s death in 1231 his empire stopped movement of the Mongolian forces to the West. The author has compiled a detailed biography of Jalal ad-Din. There are many researches of Mongolian expansion and personality of Chingiz-khan, however their well-known enemy hasn’t got such a close attention. This monograph appeals to the historical justice and it is the first Russian research of the last Khorezmshah’s life.
