This book was published in Russian in 2008, and in 2016 it was translated into the Tajik language in a slightly abridged version. The monograph presents the archaeological material of Kangurttut monument in South-Western Tajikistan. The historical source database of ancient Bactria is greatly enlarged by new information. The oldest strata of Hissar Neolitic culture dating from the beginning of the 3rd millennium B.C. were discovered at this place (excavations of V.A. Ranov and T.G. Filimonova). In the second half of the 2nd millennium B.C., during the late Bronze Age, in Kangurttut agricultural settlement and burial ground of Sapalline culture have already existed (North-Bactrian version of the Namazgh VI culture). This is result of many years of research by N.M. Vinogradova in the framework of the South Tajik archaeological expedition under the leadership of B.A. Litvinsky. Excavation materials are studied holistically using the scientific methods of related disciplines, such as architecture, trasology, metallography. The monograph is also supplied with statistical research of the ceramic material, and the catalogue of burial places and funeral inventory of the Kangurttut’s burial ground. There are many valuable drawings of archaeological finds and photos in this book.
