The essay about Mo Yan – Chinese writer, Nobel laureate in literature (2012) was not included in the collection “Writers of the East – Nobel laureates” because the news about his prize became known after publication of this book. In connection with this the essay is published as a Supplement written by well-known expert in Chinese studies S.A. Toroptsev. Nobel Committee characterized Mo Yan as a writer “who with hallucinatory realism merges folk tales, history and modernity”. The brochure also includes Nobel Lecture of Mo Yan. He also cites Nobel Lecture by Mo Yan. He said: “My writings are Chinese literature and also a part of world Literature. They depict Chinese people’s life, peculiarities of their culture and customs. At the same time my prose – in a broad sense – describes a man. It reflects his view-point, and that’s why, to my opinion, it is not local. It is free from racial and clannish limitations”.
