The main objective of the present book is a study of heroic deed of Ahn Junggeun, defining his place and role in the Korean national-liberation movement. The necessity of research could be explained by importance of this episode in the history of Korean national-liberation movement. Unfortu-nately, the part of post-Soviet scientific society share the negative attitude towards the given episode in a view of the world campaign against terrorism as a whole, show the tendency to consider it as a private act of terrorism. In particular, the point of view, that Ahn Junggeun’s act – murder of Ito Hiro-bumi, who, as some historians try to persuade, was the strong supporter of the alliance with Russia which could be alternative to the British-Japanese al-liance, and one of the most respected Japanese politicians who assisted to this rapproachement with Russia, rendered adverse influence on develop-ment of the Russian-Japanese relations, worsened Russia’s international po-sition, is quite widespread. The authors of the book show that Ahn Junggeun is the outstanding, most revered figure of national-liberation movement in Ko-rea 1905 – 1910, one of the most significant period in the history of national-liberation movement by mass character and heat of struggle. The authors of the book investigate in detail the reasons, the course of preparation and an attempt on Ito Hirobumi on Harbin station on 26 October, 1909 on the basis of studying of new materials of the Russian archives, the Korean and Japa-nese sources; show, that attempt on Ito Hirobumi was not the act of individ-ual terror, but was a part of the armed struggle of Korean patriots against Japanese aggressors.
The book is focused on a wide readership, interested in anticolonial struggle of Korean people.
